Kick off December with our guide to the ultimate Christmas interior design trends.

It’s that time of the year! With the cold nights huddled around warm crackling fires, the glistening tinsel and glowing stars surrounded by twinkling-coloured string of lights the festive season is in full swing and we’re not complaining about it. What is there not to love about Christmas? It has the delicious food, the parties, the music, the drinks and best of all the beautiful décor. One of the biggest trademarks of Christmas is the décor.

With beautiful wreaths, lights, Christmas trees, tinsel and so much more décor to pay with, if there is a season in which you want to change your décor around for, it is this season. Here is a guide on how to join the many beautiful homes decorated for Christmas.

Get garlanding

Garlands are some of the most classic Christmas decorations available to beautifully add a traditional touch to your home and they’re not so hard to DIY yourself. Draping one over your headboard and footboard or artfully arranging it over your mantlepiece can add an elegant touch to your home as well as incorporating a traditional Christmas element to prepare your home for the festive season.

You can go all out and make or purchase full wreaths full of luscious green foliage, pinecones, berries and adorned with beautiful accessories to really transform your home. This goes perfectly with velvet, coloured headboards.

Or you can opt for a simpler more contemporary look. Try stringing luggage labels and pine-cones onto a twined string for a vintage and rustic christmas interior look.

Hang up the wreaths

Wreaths can range all the way from magnificent to simplistic. They are some of the simplest ways to add a touch of festive spirit to your home.

Arranging a few simple wreaths above your headboard, or along the walls can help you maintain a simple, yet classy look. Hang up a few wreaths around your home to really open your home up to the season.

Wreaths can be expensive but luckily for you, wreaths can easily be made at home. A little foliage and some extra accessories can make a beautiful wreath. To really get into that Christmas spirit, why not make wreaths as a family together?

Try and incorporate colours from your home and go with the theme already present in your home for any wreaths.

Create a festive display

A cute little Christmas display can work wonders in adding a beautiful touch to your home. The bedside table, desk, dresser; any space is ideal to create a festive display. Gather a few items that go well together and arrange them into a beautiful display. We suggest adding some foliage and maybe a few Christmas ornaments for a beautiful display.

Try pairing certain themes and grouping a similar colour palette together to create a harmonious display. Pink, neutral colour palettes, pastels and metallics are very popular this year with Christmas décor.

Add a glow to the room

Lights! The statement décor piece for Christmas after the tree. A few lights never hurt anyone. White fairy lights are the perfect addition to glam up any home. They go well with both minimalist and luxurious looks. Pair it with white and silver décor for a French Christmas; the perfect theme that would pair perfectly in a bedroom with a luxurious bed that requires complimenting. For a minimalist modern look, why not fashion a lighted tree figure onto the wall. Candles also aid in adding a glow to the room.
