How many times have you said ‘I cannot sleep’ at night? You have had a long and tiring day at work, you should fall asleep at the drop of a hat but, it’s just not happening. Your mind is wondering and you are starting to plan the next day, week, month, decade!
It’s time to take action and receive some ‘shut eye’.
When you finally get into bed the nightmare of not being able to fall asleep begins. But then this unwanted state of awakeness lasts well into the night and you soon realise it wont be long before you need to get up for work or the kids.
There are many reasons why people have trouble sleeping at night, but there are several easy steps to aid a good night's sleep.
Try these tips to fight trouble sleeping:
- Blackout the light from the bedroom window. Blackout blinds are readily available on the internet from many retailers. A tip is to use a roller blind on the outside of the window recess.
- Ideal sleeping temperature is between 60-67 degrees Fahrenheit. Don’t have the temperature too high, since this will affect your sleep.
- Avoid the use of computers, mobiles at least 30 minutes before planned sleep.
- Calming oils and scents can give your room a sense of relaxation.
- Relaxing music, or calming sounds. People have laughed at whale sounds, but research has shown that such sounds are relaxing.
Still not sleeping well? It may be time for a new bed.
If you are still encountering problems with sleep, then it may be time to consider a new bed or at least mattress. Some people do not realise just how much their existing bed causes them to have restless sleep. Technology is always developing, and Memory Foam mattresses are so much more developed in this new decade than when they first became popular in the late 1980’s.
